Project SturNet aims to build a transboundary network of cooperation in the field of reproduction and conservation of sturgeon species, the development of modern monitoring methods, digital mapping tools and mobile applications for tracking the state of populations. During the meeting, the partners discussed the results of the third and fourth periods of the project, the status of data collection, the use of digital technologies, as well as further steps in the development of Transnational Sturgeon Network .
On December 3-4, 2025, a partners meeting of the international project «Network for the Preservation of Sturgeon and the Sustainability of the Black Sea Basin Ecosystem» (SturNet , BSB00172), implemented by a consortium of organizations from Bulgaria, Moldova, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine took place. The event was held at the Institute of Labor, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – organized by the Ecological Counseling Center Cahul (PP3). The Ukrainian side was represented by the project group of the State Institution “Institute of Market and Economic-Ecological Research of the NAS of Ukraine” consisting of Olha KARPENKO and Olha GOLIKOVA.
The event was also attended by representatives of project stakeholders and other Transnational Sturgeon Network participants, in particular, participated in person Yuliia KOTELNYKOVA, Ukrainian Scientific Center of Ecology of the Sea (Ukraine) and Bianca ROBERTS and Dr. Tamar BERIDZE, Charitable Foundation “Flora and Fauna . Saving nature together” (Georgia) and online were joined representatives of the BLISS and MonSTUR projects , as well as stakeholders of Odesa State Agrarian University (Ukraine) – Vice-Rector for Scientific Work and International Relations, Candidate of Economic Sciences Tetyana NEBOHA, Director of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Biotechnology and Aquaculture Olena BEZALTYCHNA and Head of the International Relations Department Andriy MAEV.
As part of the Partnership Meeting, a study visit to a sturgeon farm in Ulma, Ialoveni took place.
