On February 27, 2026, a seminar titled “Organization and Conduct of Training Courses on Marine Pollution Management (including consequences of military aggression)” was held in Odesa (29 Frantsuzkyi Boulevard, Conference Hall, Room 32). The event took place under the international RESPONSE/EMFAF project: “Building Response Frameworks under existing and new Marine Pollution Challenges in the Black Sea.”
During the seminar, Olha KARPENKO and Olha GOLIKOVA presented a report on “Modern Trends and Opportunities for Responding to Marine Pollution” as part of the project ” Network for the Preservation of Sturgeon and for the Sustainability of the Black Sea Basin Ecosystem” — STURNET (BSB 00172). The goal of this project is the protection and conservation of sturgeons in the Black Sea basin.
Sturgeons are ancient inhabitants of the Northern Black Sea coast and serve as biological indicators of the marine ecosystem’s health quality. Therefore, the deployment of the “SturNet” transnational monitoring network can play a significant role in preventing and minimizing the impact of environmental challenges in marine ecosystems.
