RESPONSE Project – Building Response Frameworks under existing and new Marine Pollution Challenges in the Black Sea
Key Project Objectives:
Review existing and develop new training schemes and curricula for monitoring, reporting, managing and mitigating the impacts of marine pollution, with a particular focus on pollution caused by armed conflicts
Identify and engage key stakeholders and key bodies/organizations
Provide specialized training programs to key bodies/organizations. Such programs should be implemented in the real activities of stakeholders, and also updated on a regular basis over a long period
Project activities carried out:
Key authorities, institutions and organizations, scientific institutions and universities in the field of responding to the Black Sea pollution were identified (More than 200 organizations in Ukraine (Ministries, Administrations, State Services, Inspectorates, Institutions, NGOs, Universities)
Interviews with key stakeholders were conducted (More than 10 face-to-face interviews with key stakeholders)

Create improved curricula together with key stakeholders
Practical manual, methodological guide for application
Digital toolkit for creating, implementing and updating curricula
Regional action plan for empowering stakeholders
Testing and refining curricula
Organization of national workshops
Factual training for stakeholders
Achieve operational preparedness for pollution response and risk assessment
Build networks and capacity to transfer project results to other BS countries
Synergies with relevant complementary projects and initiatives
Study visits to BS countries
Involvement of key target groups (e.g. relevant stakeholders, policy makers, general public, wider scientific community)
Dissemination activities
Participation in scientific dissemination activities, Information via website and social media
Expand network of new stakeholders among BS organizations involved in marine pollution response
Raise stakeholder awareness of project achievements and results
Create and maintain active stakeholder community
Practical implementation of project objectives and achievements, implementation of improved training (educational) programs
Ensure self-sustainability results and achievements of the project
