This signing is a unique example of cooperation between a European research infrastructure and a Ukrainian research institution. EMSO ERIC’s interest in signing the Memorandum was driven by a high assessment of the expert potential of the Institute’s researchers, in particular in the field of developing the blue economy.
The signing of the document was preceded by lengthy preparatory work that lasted about two years. During this period, a number of working meetings were held with the leadership of EMSO ERIC, the provisions of the Memorandum were agreed at the level of the organisation’s General Assembly, and approval was obtained from the relevant ministries of the member countries.
EMSO ERIC includes leading European countries, in particular Italy (the headquarters is located in Rome), France, Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Romania and Norway.
The signing of the Memorandum opens up new opportunities for international scientific cooperation, participation in joint research and projects, and the integration of Ukrainian science into the European research area, in particular in the field of marine research and the sustainable development of the blue economy.
