Every year on June 5, the global community celebrates World Environment Day, one of the most important environmental observances established by the United Nations to raise awareness of pressing environmental challenges and the need to preserve natural resources for future generations.
Today, environmental protection issues are becoming increasingly important. Climate change, ecosystem degradation, water pollution, and biodiversity loss require coordinated efforts from scientists, public authorities, businesses, and civil society.
The State Institution “Institute of Market and Economic & Ecological Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” actively contributes to addressing environmental challenges through scientific research and participation in international projects. One such initiative is the SturNet BSB00172 project, implemented within the framework of the Black Sea Basin Cross-Border Cooperation Programme and aimed at the conservation of sturgeon species and the promotion of sustainable management of aquatic ecosystems in the region.
On World Environment Day, it is important to remember that every contribution to nature conservation matters. Only through joint efforts can we ensure environmental security and sustainable development for future generations.
